1st National Meeting for Women of Color Writing Drama
Mundelein Center for the Arts, Loyola University, Chicago Illinois
September 4-7, 2008
Hello!
I’d like to take a minute of your time and tell you why this survey is so important, whether or not you are able to attend the meeting in Chicago this September. For the first time, we are bringing together women writers of color from all major disciplines and asking them about their professional lives. Everyone knows we are woefully underrepresented in theater, film, and television. As a result, we become rather rare, amorphous creatures in the minds of not only the public, but also those who are producing theater, film, and television. We are not rare. We are not amorphous. This is your chance to speak loudly and clearly and say, “This is who we are, this is what we think, and we are here. We are all here.”
So, please start with the singular experience of completing this survey and watch it become a plural experience as we gather and analyze the results and share the information with the public, foundations, and producers to say, “This is who we are, this is what we think, and we are here. We are all here.”
We hope to see you in Chicago!
Warmest regards,
Karen L.B. Evans
