All About the Conference Scholarship Program

Scholarships Available for Playwrights in the Northeast Corridor!

Join Carla Ching, Kia Corthron, Lydia Diamond, Cassandra Medley, Lenelle Moise and other emerging and established playwrights at the 1st National Meeting.

Speakers include: Kamilah Forbes, Artistic Director, Hip Hop Theater Festival, Shay Youngblood, Playwright, Regie Cabico, Artistic Director,Sol Y Soul and Professor Sandra Richards, Northwestern University.

BWPG is able to offer partial scholarships to cover the cost of travel and registration fees to women of color in the Northeast Corridor! Application deadline is August 18, 2008. We will be awarding scholarships on a rolling basis, so it will be first come, first serve. Apply now, space is limited!

Scholarships will cover the full cost of roundtrip train fare from New York City to Chicago. Train departs Wednesday, September 3rd in the morning and returns Monday, September 8th in the evening.

Scholarships will include a registration fee of $75, a 60% discount!

In addition, we have a block of rooms at the Doubletree Hotel. If you would like, we will reserve a room for you at $109.00 per night and share conference participant roommate information. Each participant will be responsible for their hotel expenses.

Scholarship recipients must complete the pre & post online surveys and participate in a focus group while at the conference. Don’t miss this exciting opportunity! We are interested in women at all stages of their careers, emerging, mid-career, and established!
